OVERVIEW
Disruption of operation is the main problem that affects the operational efficiency of any plant. Mecstra’s online safety valve testing has the capability to test your safety valves without disrupting the operation of the plant. The test is conducted online or in-situ and helps in increasing the efficiency of your safety or pressure relief valve. The test is conducted under the operational condition of the plant and certified with the lowest lead time. Mecstra has two types of online safety or pressure valve testing equipments, one which is ATEX certified, hydraulic operated and another which is operated with an electric motor.
TECHNOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE
Online safety valve testing is conducted by raising a load cell mounted on the stem of the safety valve, which in turn is raised. This helps in lifting the disk or seat. The valve is popped at the set pressure and the net result is calculated and hence there is no requirement to increase the operational pressure of the plant. Although an online safety relief valve testing is conducted during the plant operation (hot testing), online safety valve testing can be conducted during a shutdown (cold testing), which has a huge potential. Large safety valves which are hard to dismantle or remove off the line and require immense manpower, opt for this solution which is very cost effective.
The pulling force, the disk lift and the line pressure are found and recorded during the process and stored digitally which is later analyzed and used for certification. The software used for analyzing the readings of the process is capable of customizing the analyzation and the certification process. Many engineers make a mistake during the process by concluding the reseat pressure from the reseat point. Calculations are to be taken considering the dynamic force that is applied to the disk by the fluid that flows when the disk is lifted. The variety of valves in the industry vary widely and each valve is to be studied well before conducting the online safety valve testing.
